St. John Sea Creatures: Pillar corals (Dendrogyra cylindricus)
Pillar Coral is a hard coral, which are usually found on flat or slightly
sloping sea floors in depths of between one and 65 feet. They can grow
as large as 8 feet tall. Their polyps, which are used for trapping nutrients
are usually extended during the daytime
